46But, my good friend, consider whether that which is noble and good is not something different from saving and being saved; for we must not allow that it consists in living such or such a time, at least for one who is really a man; and he should not be fond of life, but entrusting this to god and believing what the women say, that no man can escape his destiny, he should next inquire how he may best live the time that he has to live.[37]

[37] Plato, Gorgias, c. 68. In this passage the text of Antoninus has ἐατέον, which is perhaps right; but there seems to be something wrong in the text. It is certainly difficult to see the exact construction of parts of the section. The reading εὐκτέον for ἐατέον does not mend the matter.
