67The Caspians served wearing coats of skin[65] and having native bows of reed and short swords:[66] thus were these equipped; and they acknowledged as their leader Ariomardos the brother of Artyphios. The Sarangians were conspicuous among the rest by wearing dyed garments; and they had boots reaching up to the knee, and Median bows and spears: of these the commander was Pherendates the son of Megabazos. The Pactyans were wearers of skin coats[67] and had native bows and daggers: these acknowledged as their commander Artaÿntes the son of Ithamitres.
